Morningside Center believes deeply in the power of school-family relationships as a key ingredient in children’s growth and development. For children to thrive, all the adults in their lives need opportunities for skill-building, reflection, healing, and joy. These workshops are offered as a collaboration with the NYC Public Schools Office of Safety and Youth Development to provide spaces of support and learning for parents and caregivers in the NYC DOE. You will find links to register for each workshop below. Space is limited.

Building a Community of Caregivers

In this workshop, we focus on the caregiving identity, and the importance of having

and building community with other caregivers. Through a series of activities that facilitate relationship building, a focus on developing the skill of wholehearted listening, and a time to reflect on our own childhoods in relationship to our caregiving, participants will engage in a supportive community that invites them to grow their caregiving practice alongside others on a similar journey.

We will spend our time exploring a range of feelings, including anger, and working together on developing facility with several powerful and practical strategies for dealing with “big” emotions in ways that further connection and care. Each of these strategies can be proactively taught, practiced, modeled, and delivered without value judgments on the feelings themselves.
